In a bid to define sustainability, one may come across various definitions, but the environmental side encompassing sustainability covers infrastructure, health, communities, and economics. The United Nations’ list of sustainability goals includes development criteria such as environment goals covering climate change and clean energy, as well as targets for economic growth, hunger, poverty, peace, education, equality, and others. Apart from what the nationwide organizations decide,  there exists a concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which refers to a wide number. #ThinkwithNiche

With degrading ecosystems, many countries are shifting attention to environmental issues, the causes, and the probable solutions. While governments and leaders are proposing their own policies, industries and businesses have set up their own boundaries, for example, limiting chemical usage and monitoring overall manufacturing processes. Likewise, it should be kept in mind that a green business looks into the best interest of the local and global environment, meaning it supports a local economy and a healthier planet. In the 21st century, an environmentally aware business not only runs after profit but also takes into account the negative impact on society and the environment. Such a business is labeled as sustainable because it appears to care for the ‘cradle’ in which it exists. In totality, a sustainable business incorporates- profit, people, and the planet.

Sustainability And Its Advantages

Adhering to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will create possibilities for reducing cost input. Even a simple energy-efficient resource shall create scope for reduction in the units of energy consumed and automatically bring the power bills,There is no rocket science in this objective. for example, switching off electricity when not in use, reduced consumption of water and paper. Such tiny steps shall create a global impact if followed on a global scale as well.

Increased Revenue

A market image of a sustainable company attracts more customers, in general customers like to associate with a responsible company. Being environment friendly has been in trend for the past few decades now and the awareness is skyrocketing each year.

Pollution Prevention

Pollution occurring in the environment due to unsustainable actions of the industries. It is harming the air, water, land and putting millions at risk. Pollution prevention sometimes referred to as P2 aims to reduce carbon footprint and emissions. Goals such as waste management and reduction in emissions can help achieve a global perspective in a bid to save our planet. For example, reducing toxic chemicals, limitation in emissions, implementing conservation techniques, cutting down plastic pollution, all those agendas shall keep us one step closer to a sustainable business.

Business Impact

Before taking un-environment-friendly actions, companies should think of the impact they shall leave for future generations. Citing a report from The New Climate Economy, around 95% of plastic packaging is put into the trash after firsthand use, which is equivalent to $120 billion annually and much of the plastic waste ends up in the oceans, currently found in the digestive tract of 114 aquatic animals. These practices shall have serious repercussions in the unforeseen future.

Businesses shall be seriously impacted and held responsible for the degradation of planetary ecosystems and the climate change which is occurring due to it. With some very little time left in hand, businesses must approach their activities with a serious need to address sustainability, considering climate change as a warning.
