Professions where women are prevalent have become problematic in terms of categorizing them. In fact, this mindset has affected the way women are given their salaries.#ThinkWithNiche

Since women are considered feeble and timid, they are majorly preferred for pink-collar jobs. Because of this reason, women’s wages are also affected. We rarely see women working in the managing department. This role is given to the majority of men. Such kind of work discrimination leads to issues in equal pay. The reason why women are far behind the line of equal pay is because of their feminine side. Men take advantage of women’s timid facet as a way to threaten them. The time women raise the alarm against an issue, they are often discarded as ‘nothing’ in the eyes of men. Since the men in power dominate society, women’s opinions remain defenceless. This gives men greater power of control over their wages. Besides, we rarely come across women working in the site of properties and picking up bricks.

Trust issues
Women are often deemed as whistle-blowers. This is the reason why women barely get to the top of the administration. Apart from that, women in high paying jobs also get the least wages. Women are seen in cordial relations with most of the colleagues in the work environment. This may sound a threat to reputable and major companies. These factors contribute to discrimination against equal pay for women. However, in rare scenarios, it doesn’t matter whether women ladder to the top or not. Equal pay for women seems to be an impossible solution when they are perceived as a tool of untrustworthiness. On certain occasions, this demeanour of women may come as a threat to them and become a clear reason behind the loss of opportunities. Most companies don’t even hire women because of the incompetency levels companies look down upon women.

Gender Biases
These gender biases running at the crux of social business can ruin the reputation of the future economy in many countries. Equal pay for women would be beneficial for society. At the same time decrease the amount of discrimination against women in many ways. Providing women their equal rights in the workforce may aid in destroying poverty. Eliminating all forms of gender discrimination may even encounter a steep drop in poverty. According to the extensive research done by Global Citizen, equal pay for women and several other gender biases in terms of wages can heighten between $12 trillion to $28 trillion overall by the year 2025 to ongoing GDP. The war against gender biases will never end and the current era is the proof. Gender biases are the root cause of major issues taking place across the globe. When it is corrected, society would become less problematic for women. In order for women to have a safer livelihood, if equal pay is followed diligently, all forms of discrimination and biases against women will get eradicated, vice versa.

Patriotism Rules
The reason behind this long-lasting gender disparity issue is large because of patriotism breeding beneath, underneath, and from all corners and spheres of society. Since patriotism has no rules, it is even ageless. In our society, men are said to be the heart of victory, whereas a woman is looked down upon when she runs her own life. There are several reasons why struggling for equal pay often takes rounds only in women’s lives. The main reason behind the failure of equal pay is the created power a man tends to hold, which remains ever arguable since ages. Women’s contributions to society are merely counted.  Patriotism is the most leading cause of why equal pay for women is often ignored. Concerning that, men in power, their masculinity, and the responsibilities they were born to destroy the idea of equal pay. Patriotism sounds like a ‘riot’ of two genders, where one is always seen on the bright side with maximum wages at his side while the opposite goes for the women.

The Bottom Line
The power of a man’s toxic masculinity creates harmful nuances for women in the workforce. Women are deemed as unfavourable for some tasks. When a similar task is offered to men, they are regarded as favorable and competent. Men’s mistakes are often avoided. At the same time, women are faced with a penalty. The ‘brotherhood’ that keeps men close to each other in the work environment remains disadvantageous for women who are willing to give their best shot. Our society expects more from men and less from women. All these factors create a gender gap which leads to big connotations of inequality and dehumanizing of women in all cultures. It’s time we ponder upon how we perceive women. The problem starts within us.
