Whereas, Azim Premji of Wipro has slipped to the second position on this list. Zerodha co-founders Nitin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath have been included in the list of top 10 person donors of the country apart from being one of the richest entrepreneurs in the country. According to the EdelGive Hurun Philanthropy List 2022, his donations increased by 308 percent to Rs 100 crore in FY22 as compared to the previous financial year, making him the ninth largest individual donor in India.

The two brothers have donated a quarter of their wealth to charity, a Hurun India report said, adding that they plan to give back another Rs 750 crore over the next three years. Apart from this, 36-year-old Nikhil Kamath is included in the list as the youngest philanthropist. The primary reason Kamath Brothers donates is disaster relief. Other social causes they support include the environment and sustainability. Hurun India said that they have donated Rs 193 crore for 'Environment and Sustainability', registering a growth of 46 percent in FY22. On the other hand, according to the Hurun India Philanthropy List-2022, Shiv Nadar donated Rs 1,161 crore in FY 2022. During this, he donated Rs 3 crore per day.

"For instance, over the last five years, the number of donors who have given more than ₹ 100 crores has grown from 2 to 15, and over 50 crores have grown from five to 20. Considering the wealth creation potential of India and assuming that the billionaires keep up with philanthropy, I expect these numbers to at least double over the next five years,"  Hurun India's MD and Chief Researcher, Anas Rahman Junaid, stated.
