Venkaiah Naidu's term as Vice President has come to an end. Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath as the 14th Vice President of India. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Jagdeep Dhankhar as the Vice President. Let us tell you that in the Vice Presidential election held on August 6, NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar had a landslide victory. He got a total of 528 votes while the opposition candidate Margaret Alva got 182 votes.

Jagdeep Dhankhar, the new Vice President of the country, was born on 18 May 1951 in Kithana village of Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. His father's name is Gokal Chand and his mother's name is Kesari Devi. He did his early education in Kithana village itself. He took education in the primary school of the village itself. After this, he did his graduation from Maharaja College, Raipur. He has also studied law at Rajasthan University. Jagdeep Dhankhar was first registered as an advocate in the Rajasthan Bar Council in the year 1979. He was nominated as Senior Advocate by the Rajasthan High Court in 1990.

Talking about the political journey of the new Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, he has been in politics since the time of Janata Dal. He became MP from Jhunjhunu in 1989. He was also a Union Minister in the VP Singh and Chandrashekhar Governments from 1989 to 1991. He has also been in Congress. He joined BJP in 2003. On 30 July 2019, he took over as the 28th Governor of Bengal.
