Happy Easter Everyone! It is a beautiful morn! Easter celebrations are not complete without heartwarming symbols like Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns. They bring out the child in you! So let us check out the significance of Easter and these symbols and together feel the joy of Easter! #TWN

Hallelujah! Christ is Risen! Today is Easter, the most important festival in Christianity. It is the day when Jesus Christ arose on the third day of his death on the cross! This day is more important than Christmas because it signifies that Jesus is not dead. He lives and is with his people forever!

The Blessed Time of Easter!

The people celebrate Easter on a Sunday in the Spring season. Good Friday, the day of the crucifixion of Christ, is Friday and the third day is Resurrection Day. Easter is the festival of new beginnings, sacrifice, and rebirth. Hence, we celebrate Easter on the Sunday following the Full Moon occurring on the day or after the Spring Equinox.

We celebrate Easter with great enthusiasm and ecstasy around the world! It is a more peaceful and ritualistic affair than a jazzy celebration like Christmas! Christians in the world celebrate it with special worship services, hymns, ringing of church bells, Lilies, and candles. The joy of Easter, however, lies with family and friends! The heartwarming family get-togethers, the joy, and the delicious treats, I miss them! I miss the Sunrise Service or Dawn Service as we call it, held every year on our Campus. The glory of the early morning, the hustle and bustle in every home to reach the venue on time, and then the entire Dawn Worship Service and breakfast thereafter, it was so blissful! Memories are so beautiful yet so disturbing!

Easter Symbols and Their Significance!

However, here we are talking about the delightful symbols of Easter. Yes, just like Christmas, Easter too becomes more exciting with these symbols. Children look forward to Easter Eggs, but we grown-ups also relish them no less! So let us discuss these symbols and rejoice in the blessings of Easter Sunday –

Easter Eggs!

Easter Eggs are perhaps the most heartwarming and unique symbols. We give them to children as gifts on Easter. These beautifully decorated Eggs made with Sugar and chocolates have candies inside them. And children cannot wait to break them and find the candies.

People use it as an activity also to make the children realize the real meaning of Easter! They help the children dye and decorate boiled eggs to celebrate Easter.

Easter Eggs originated in the land of Pagans. The Eggs are a symbol of fertility and the new life of nature. The death of Winter is followed by the blossoming of the Spring Season. Pagans used many ways to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. It was one of them. It is a belief also that during the entire Lent Season (40 days of fasting before Easter), Christians were asked to stay away from Eggs. So, the children were given these Egg treats on Easter!

Easter Buns or Hot Cross Buns!

Just like Easter Eggs, the Hot Cross Buns also ignite excitement among Christians on Easter. It is a belief that in the 12 century, an English monk decorated his freshly baked buns with a cross to mark Good Friday, also known as the Crucifixion Day! This practice became very popular, and since then, Hot Cross Buns sell like Hotcakes on Easter! Over the years, sugar, spices, and fruits were added to the Buns. Incidentally, Buns represent health and prosperity!

The Cute Easter Bunnies!

Easter bunnies are a cute symbol of Easter. Rabbits or Bunnies symbolize new life because they give birth to many kittens. It is also a belief that just as Santa Claus brings gifts to children, Easter Bunnies hid Easter Eggs for children. They searched for kids who behaved nicely during the whole year and rewarded them with beautiful Easter eggs on Easter!

Easter Lilies!

O' the beautiful Easter Lilly! The charming White and Red Lilies fill you with utter happiness as you see them! For Christians, they are a religious symbol! They instantly view it as a flower of Easter! It is mentioned in the Bible many times:

“Consider the Lilies, how they grow, they toil not, they spin not, and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these!” - Luke12:27 (King James Version)

Easter Lilies are a symbol of purity, rebirth, and new beginnings. But most of all, they are associated with the resurrection of Jesus Christ! It is the reason we use Lilies whenever we have to decorate a place for Easter!

The Easter Cross!

The Cross is a holy symbol of Easter. Jesus died on the Cross! He bore tremendous pain and bloodshed to save humanity. It is a belief that it is through the Cross that he arose and lives forever! The Cross signifies the victory of Jesus on death and sin! Therefore, the Easter Cross symbolizes everlasting life!

Conclusion

These endearing symbols enhance the joy of Easter. They also help the children to understand the value of the festival. More importantly, they play a big role in igniting a feeling of sharing, fellowship, and Love in the people. And we all know how Jesus loved people that he bore so much tyranny! He arose to promise them eternal life! It is the message of Easter, and whether we are a believer or not, you would agree that we need to spread Love! The world desperately needs it today! Happy Easter!
