UN Names Telangana Village Among One of The Best Tourism Villages in the World

Pochampally, a village in Telangana is named as one of the best villages for tourism in the world. The news came out on November 16 when the United Nations World Tourism Organization announced the village as one of the best tourism villages. The Village is famous for its Ikkat Sarees. Ikkat is a tie and dye technique that is used to colour the yarn. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, G Kishan Reddy has congratulated the villagers for having the prestigious recognition.
The Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO has launched this initiative with the purpose of awarding the villages which have showcased the best practices. It is determined under the nine evaluation areas which are set by the UNWTO itself.
