News Synopsis

Spotify, a platform for streaming music, has begun testing User Choice Billing services in a few major areas. Google previously disclosed that it would permit Spotify to bypass Android's standard Google Play billing system. As a result, Spotify's own payments would be aided. Now that Spotify has made some progress, the User Choice Billing initiative is being tested.

“In March, we announced plans with Google to introduce a first-of-its-kind in-app purchase experience on Android devices called User Choice Billing (UCB). This experience would give Spotify users the freedom to subscribe and make purchases using the payment option of their choice,", according to a blog post from Spotify.

Android users will have the option to pick how they want to pay for their Spotify subscription, according to Spotify. The music streaming service, when asked about the Google and Spotify plans, said,  “We’re excited to be the first to pilot UCB with Google and we’re especially pleased that our partnership opens up new opportunities for other developers as well."

Additionally, Google has provided some information about how its staff collaborates with Spotify. The search engine claims that the pilot is currently active in over 35 countries, including the US, and that Bumble will also participate in this programme.

Google One VPN is currently accessible on Windows and Mac laptops. One VPN desktop applications have been made available by the company for Windows and Mac computers. A virtual private network, or VPN, increases the security of an internet connection and offers IP address and encrypted transit. Up until recently, Android-based devices could use Google One VPN. Recently, iOS devices were added. According to Google, "will never use your VPN connection to track, collect, or sell your online activity." Your online activity is encrypted by the Google One VPN app for an additional layer of security wherever you are connected. The programme provides protection against hackers on insecure networks, such as public Wi-Fi, after the VPN is enabled.
