After several hours of service disruption that impacted millions of people globally, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are now fully functional again.

The shares of Silicon Valley Company Facebook fell by over 5% as a result, but the users of the three Social Media Platforms remained clueless since they kept seeing error messages for the bulk of the day.

"We regret to a large number of individuals and companies who rely on us throughout the world. We have been putting a lot of effort into getting our applications and services back up, and we are happy to announce that they are currently doing so. We value your wait, said Facebook, which also owns the messaging service WhatsApp and the Photo-Sharing App Instagram, on Twitter.

Facebook's CTO, Mike Schroepfer, Tweeted: "Sincere apologies to everyone impacted by outages of Facebook-powered services right now. Teams are working quickly to fix and repair the problem since we are having networking challenges.

"Facebook services are currently returning online... Getting 100% could take some time. I'm sorry to every little and Large Business, Family, and person who depends on us, Schroepfer added in a later tweet.

Facebook had earlier in the day stated: "We're aware that some users are having difficulty accessing our applications and products. We regret the disruption and are trying to rapidly restore everything to normal.

Instagram and WhatsApp also used Twitter to alert their users of the outage.

"We are aware that some users of WhatsApp are currently having problems. We're trying to restore the order and will update you here as soon as we can. I appreciate your understanding. the tweet from the messaging app, which boasts over two billion active users.

"Friends and Instagram are now having some problems, so using them may be difficult for you. Keep checking back we're working on it, the photo-sharing app tweeted.

A day before one of its whistleblowers was scheduled to appear before a Congressional Committee, the three most popular social media platforms had an outage.

"Having so many applications from the biggest social media business in the world go black at the same moment was really unusual. The New York Times said that more than 3.5 billion people use Facebook and its applications for social interaction and commerce.

According to people familiar with the issue, the outage also severely impacted Facebook's Internal Communication Tools, including some phone conversations and work applications used for Calendar Appointments and other features.

On Monday morning, the business informed personnel that some employees were using Zoom to stay connected and that the cause of the outage was unknown.

When you go to Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp, the back-end technology that allows computers to connect to their network employs the Border Gateway Protocol, which is a type of internet postal service. BGP examines all of the possible paths that data could take in order to lead users to the websites they wish to visit and chooses the best one. In a word, Facebook's systems have stopped communicating with the rest of the internet.

On Monday, Facebook abruptly ceased delivering the data required for the system to work. It meant that no one's computer could connect to Facebook or its other sites. According to some estimates, the downtime might have cost Mr. Zuckerberg as much as $6 billion (£4.4 billion), with Facebook's stock plunging nearly 5%.
