Union government Announces 939 police medals including 189 gallantry awards

The Union government of India has announced a total of 939 service medals including 189 gallantry awards for personnel of various central and state police forces on the eve of Republic Day. 

The Union home ministry released a list of names of individuals who are decorated with the police medals for gallantry, the president’s police medal for distinguished service, and the police medal for meritorious service.

The highest number of bravery medals, 115, are awarded to the Jammu and Kashmir Police. 30 medals are awarded to the Central Reserve Police Force, 10 to the Chhattisgarh Police, 9 to Odisha Police, 7 to Maharashtra Police, 3 to Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Shastra Seema Bal (SSB), and 2 to the Border Security Force (BSF).
