News Synopsis

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal,  popular microblogging platform, Twitter is reconsidering Elon Musk's offer to acquire the social media platform. Sources close to the matter informed The Wall Street Journal that officials of the social media platform are meeting on Sunday to reconsider Musk's offer, and maybe more receptive to negotiating with Tesla’s CEO after initially trying to resist his offer. Last week, Twitter defended itself against Elon Musk using a shareholder rights plan, or "poison pill," crafted to avoid a hostile takeover.

The change of plans comes after in a regulatory filing earlier this week billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed $46.5 billion in the financing, proving that he's locked in funding agreements from banks and other entities. The Wall Street Journal further informed that this was also decided after Musk met with shareholders in a private meeting on Friday to continue to make his pitch for the bid and urge the importance of the board making a decision, The Journal's sources informed that Twitter plans to address the bid on its first-quarter earnings call on Thursday at the latest.
