The Open Group India Awards for Innovation & Excellence 2023 Winners Announced

The Open Group India, based in Bangalore, has unveiled the winners of its prestigious Awards for Innovation & Excellence 2023. These awards commend remarkable accomplishments in leveraging Open Standards and Open Source software, showcasing exceptional projects from various industries.

Recognizing Excellence and Innovation

Since its inception in 2017, The Open Group India Awards have served as a platform to recognize industry excellence, innovation, and perseverance in the use of Open Standards and Open Source software.

The 2023 awards have introduced a new category, "Most Promising Program for Women in Enterprise Architecture," further promoting diversity and inclusion.

Diverse Participation and Esteemed Judges

Nominations for the awards poured in from 8 different countries, spanning South-East Asia, India, the Middle East, and Africa, representing government, IT consulting, education, and banking sectors. A panel of 29 expert executives, thought leaders, and technology pioneers from 13 countries served as esteemed judges to evaluate the projects.

Awards of Distinction and Merit

The Awards of Distinction were bestowed upon remarkable projects from organizations such as Dubai Customs, Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Chinese Taipei City Government, and DXC Technology. Meanwhile, the Awards of Merit recognized outstanding efforts from organizations like Capgemini Technology Services India Limited, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development (Government of Kenya), Centre for Railway Information Systems, and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS).

Special Mentions and Criteria for Excellence

Special Mentions were given to exceptional projects from the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of Mongolia, Schlumberger India Technology Center Pvt Ltd, and Peritos Solutions & Consulting Private Limited. The evaluation process focused on criteria such as clarity in problem definition, selection of appropriate business and technical solutions, utilization of the right standards, measurable and visible results, and overall sustainability of the transformation.

Promoting Open Standards Adoption

The Open Group India awards, held in conjunction with The Open Group EA for Sustainability, July 2023 Conference, aim to promote the use and adoption of open standards. By showcasing real-world applications of open standards, the awards encourage innovation and stability in an ever-changing world.

Guest of Honour's Praise

Shri Jyotiraditya M Scinda, the Hon'ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Government of India, commended the winners for their exceptional accomplishments and applauded The Open Group for recognizing innovation and excellence in utilizing open standards and open source. He emphasized India's potential to lead in establishing global standards that inspire others.

Encouraging Open Standards in a VUCA World

Dr. Pallab Saha, General Manager of The Open Group India, emphasized that the awards celebrate outstanding use cases of open standards in real-world settings, balancing stability with innovation in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) world.
