Today on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Special prayers will be organized all over the country for world peace in temples and other religious gatherings. Mahashivratri is an annual Hindu festival celebrated in honor of Lord Shiva. Mahashivratri is known as the “great night of Shiva”. It emphasizes overcoming darkness and ignorance as it is celebrated on the day before the new moon in the month of Phalguna according to the Hindu calendar. Many people observe fast on this day. The festival will be celebrated by ‘Maha Abhishek’ of Shivling. Mahant Divyagir, head priest of a 100-year-old shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva called  Mankameshwar temple said:  "On this special occasion, we will be praying to Lord Shiva for world peace. The rituals will also be streamed live on the temple's Facebook page so that devotees can witness the splendour of the festival." A 24-hour ‘yagna’ will also be held by the management of the Buddheshwar Mahadeva temple for world peace. Vice president of the organizing committee of the temple, Arvind Singh, said: "On this special occasion, a grand Shobha Yatra will be organized, with a large number of musical bands participating. For the benefit of the devotees, two LED screens have been installed outside the temple grounds."
