Vidyut Jammwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi star.

Popular films created for over-the-top (OTT) video streaming platforms are being remade in various languages or inspiring sequels, many of which are slated for theatrical release. Abundantia Entertainment has acquired the Hindi remake rights to the South Indian language films Home and Soorarai Pottru, which were both released on Amazon Prime Video.

The Tamil version of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen is now available. The first installment of Jammwal's film, Khuda Haafiz, was originally available on Disney+ Hotstar. While content creators emphasize the platforms' broad reach and the potential to increase appeal in a new language, critics point to the Hindi film industry's continued reliance on southern stories, given the north's lack of originality.

“The trend underpins the fact that stories can find an audience irrespective of platform, and the creative strategy of a company like ours anyway is to be screen-agnostic,“ Vikram Malhotra, founder, and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment had said in an earlier interview.
