News Synopsis

On Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey encouraged the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, Elon Musk to acquire the social media platform and make it a private company. The Wall Street Journal further said that other billionaires' contacts pushed Elon Musk to takeover the microblogging platform. The former CEO of Twitter,  who stepped down from his position in the month of November last year has publicly and openly supported Musk's acquisition. He even said that Elon Musk is a "singular solution" to lead Twitter.

The WSJ further informed that behind the scenes, others supported Musk's Twitter plans, especially the ones who were frustrated by Twitter's content moderation decisions. That group was made up of wealthy and influential people with a libertarian bent and others who aligned themselves with the World’s Richest man’s strong anti-censorship views. According to the Wall Street Journal, Peter Thiel and David Sacks are apparently two of the people who encouraged Musk. Like Musk, Thiel and Sacks are former PayPal aces who are often referred to as the "PayPal Mafia". Elon Musk recently acquired the once Jack Dorsey led social media company for a whopping $44 billion.
