News Synopsis

Anurag Thakur, the Minister Of Information And Broadcasting, announced on Monday that the government has banned 45 videos from ten YouTube channels for altering the content and broadcasting fake information with the aim of inciting religious intolerance.

According to an official statement, the videos that have been prohibited have received a total of 1.30 million views and accuse the government of denying some groups' ability to practice their religion.

According to Thakur,  “These channels had content that spreads fear and confusion among communities.”

A News agency says that 13 of the videos have been removed, including 13 from The Live TV, 9 from Hind Voice, 6 from Inquilab Live, 6 from Desh India Live, and 4 each from Mr. Reaction Wala, Getsetflyfact, and 4 PM. One each from the Vinay Pratap Singh Bhopar,Dhruv Rathi, and National Adda channels.

An official statement claims that the prohibited materials include altered movies and bogus news that are shared with the aim of inciting religious intolerance.

The ministry cited false assertions as examples, such as the government taking away the religious freedom of certain communities, making violent threats against religious communities, and declaring civil war in India.

According to the ministry, decisions were made based on data from intelligence agencies.  The ministry stated, “Some of the videos that have been banned by the ministry were being used to spread misinformation on issues related to the Agneepath scheme, the Indian Armed Forces, India’s national security apparatus, and Kashmir.”

The statement says, “This material is considered false and sensitive from the point of view of national security and India’s friendly relations with other countries.”
