News Synopsis

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has stated that the microblogging platform will increase the limited number of characters per tweet from 280 to 4,000.

"Elon is it true that Twitter is set to increase the characters from 280 to 4000?" a user questioned Musk.

Musk responded, "Yes". Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk's post.

Though one user claimed, "It would be a big mistake. Twitter's purpose is to provide fast news. If this happens, a lot of real information is lost,"   Another remarked, "4000? If this happens, a lot of real information is lost. That's not a tweet; that's an essay."

On the other hand, Twitter began rolling out "Community Notes" to all users worldwide on Sunday.

The company claims that "Community Notes aim to create a better informed world by empowering people on Twitter to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading Tweets."

The statement continued, "Contributors can leave notes on any Tweet and if enough contributors from different points of view rate that note as helpful, the note will be publicly shown on a Tweet,"

Musk, meanwhile, directed all the bots on the microblogging platform to attack him on Monday.

He remarked: "Calling all bots & spams. Please attack me!"

Last week Elon Musk has disclosed that the company is working on a new update to let users know if they are "shadow banned." In other words, the practise somewhat respects the right of freedom of speech, but it practically renders their posts redundant as no one can see them.

In response to claims made by Bari Weiss, the founder of Free Press, that Twitter staff "build blacklists" to "prevent disfavored tweets from trending," Musk announced the development.

Musk revealed that Twitter is "working on a software update" that will display the "true account status" in a tweet. He said,  "you know clearly if you've been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal."

Earlier this week, Instagram made a similar announcement. However, given that Twitter has previously denied shadow banning, Musk's remark is especially significant. For instance, in a blog post titled "People are asking us if we shadow ban.

We do not," former Twitter executive Vijaya Gadde and current Twitter GM (consumer) Kayvon Beykpour strongly denied shadow ban allegations in 2018.
