The former president of America and widely known businessman Donald Trump has announced to launch a social media platform of his own. The platform is being called by the name “TRUTH”. He claims that the platform would "stand up to the tyranny of big tech", accusing them of silencing opposing voices in the US. Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which he chairs, also intends to launch a subscription video-on-demand service.
He was banned from social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook after the crowds of his supporters stormed the US Capitol in January. He and his advisers have since planned on creating a social media platform of their own. Analyst James Clayton says there's no indication that the new company has a working platform yet and TMTG is just hyping it up. The platform is overtly politicized by its nature. It is not going to be a talking shape of ideas like Twitter, or a place the whole family is on like Facebook.
