Study reveals limiting global warming to 1.5°C is still hazardous to coral reefs

One of the biggest challenges mankind is struggling today with is certainly Climate Change and Global Warming. Various human activities have contributed significantly to disturbing climate patterns eventually leading to climate changes. One of the major consequences of these climate changes is seen in the form of Global Warming. The average temperature of the planet is on the rise and it is unleashing catastrophic effects on different components of Earth’s ecosystem both biotic and abiotic. One of the most affected components of Earth by global warming is the beautiful coral reefs found in the ocean. There have been several conferences, conventions to counter this problem but little has been done on the ground to limit it. Among all this, a recent study from the University of Leeds has released data that has created a state of panic amongst environmentalists. The study states that even limiting global warming to 1.5°C would not provide any relief to the coral reefs as 90% of them would still suffer frequent heatwaves. The study emphasizes that there could be no assumed safe limit for the rise of global warming and it’s high time we collectively take steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
