News Synopsis

India’s melody queen Lata Mangeshkar who ruled the hearts of music lovers worldwide with her mesmerizing vocals is no more. The veteran singer, aged 92 succumbed to her covid infection. She breathed her last in Breach Candy hospital. It feels like the end of an era after she is no more. She was conferred with various awards during her lifetime including the highest civilian honor of India, Bharat Ratna. The news of her demise sent a wave of sorrow to the entire country. Celebrities and eminent personalities such as  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shahrukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar were deeply anguished with her demise and paid their respects to the queen of melody. Covid infection along with Pneumonia led to multiple organ failures became the cause of her death. She was cremated with full state honors and two-day national mourning was announced. The flag will fly half-mast as a mark of respect. She began her singing career in 1942 and soon become the most loved singer in the country. She sang more than 30,000 songs in almost 20 languages. She gave numerous masterpieces in her career spanning over seven decades such as ‘Ajeeb dastan hai ye’, Pyar Kiya to Darna kya’, ‘Dil Deewana bin Sajna ke’, ‘tere liye’ etc to name a few.
