The space race which has grown into a struggle for the ages is setting some of the richest people on the planet against one another. The two biggest people on earth Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos who are the CEOs of SpaceX and Blue Origin respectively have big goals for space. They picture a world in which everyone has access to the internet humans live with other planetary species and permanent people live on rotating space stations.

Bill Gates is not investing his wealth in these alien projects.

According to Forbes, Gates is the fourth richest person living. He believes that there are larger goals for humanity right now. Gates told CNN's Becky Anderson on Wednesday that while internet constellations like SpaceX's Starlink and Amazon's Project Plan Kuiper attempt to provide for-profit solutions to the world's urgent connection needs, more fundamental issues now take up his time.

A major amount of the space race is a commercial market. Excellent internet access is needed over all of Africa. using surveillance satellites to monitor climate change and agriculture. that has no social motive at all. I sure hope that those who are wealthy will find effective methods to give their wealth back to society. They clearly have skills. They can't wish to consume it all themselves.
