News Synopsis

Padma Vibhushan Recipient Balwant Moreshwar Purandare who is also known as Babasaheb Purandare took his last breath in Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital at Pune, Maharashtra this morning.

He was 99 years old and was suffering from pneumonia as was in an extremely critical condition and was on a ventilator where he lost his battle of life.

He was a renowned and prominent historian and was known for his rich knowledge of history and world affairs.

During the 80s he considered and coordinated, 'Jaanta Raja', the dramatic history spectacle on Shivaji Maharaj's life. Purandare was born on July 29, 1922, was granted with Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian personnel in 2019. He was deliberated with the Maharashtra Bhushan grant in 2015.
