The airline currently operates 93 weekly flights between India and Thailand, including 11 weekly services to Bangkok.

Expanding International Network and Meeting Demand

This new service aligns with IndiGo’s strategy to expand its international footprint and cater to the increasing demand for travel to Thailand. The launch of Kolkata-Phuket flights comes at a time when more Indians are seeking international travel options, especially to popular destinations like Phuket. The airline aims to make travel easier and more affordable while offering a smooth, hassle-free flying experience.

Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed excitement about the new route. He mentioned that Phuket’s popularity, combined with Thailand’s visa-free policy for Indian citizens, is expected to boost demand for flights. He also emphasized that the airline’s commitment to offering affordable, on-time travel options is key to its success in expanding this network.

Boosting Tourism and Trade

The new flights will improve connectivity for travelers from eastern India to Phuket, a well-known destination famous for its pristine beaches and vibrant cultural attractions. The move is expected to promote tourism and encourage cross-border travel. Additionally, the improved connectivity will support trade and economic cooperation between India and Southeast Asia, fostering stronger ties between the two regions.

As Kolkata continues to grow as a metropolitan hub, the city is seeing an increasing demand for international flights, particularly to destinations like Southeast Asia. The introduction of this route will provide better access for residents and businesses in Kolkata looking to travel to Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries.
