News Synopsis

Walmart and Flipkart joined forces with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) to speed up capacity building for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across India, help them achieve their export potential, and incorporate them into local and international retail supply chains.

At a summit held in this city to celebrate the milestone of 20,000 MSMEs completing their training under the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Programme, of which Swasti is a programme partner, the agreement was signed.

The Vriddhi programme also offers MSMEs regular training, seminars, and mentorship sessions. Thousands of MSMEs from India's Tier II and III cities and metropolises have registered for the initiative.

As a result of the cooperation, participating MSMEs will have easier access to NSIC schemes, while MSMEs registered with the National Small Industries Corporation NSIC will have access to Vriddhi's training resources.

Narayan Rane, the minister of MSMEs, said, "The Indian MSME sector currently comprises 6.3 crore MSMEs that employ more than 11 crore people. We look forward to Walmart's continued support to the growing MSME sector in the country," He added that "We are trying to increase exports from the sector."

All MSMEs will benefit from the Vridhhi programme being implemented by Walmart and Flipkart by receiving e-marketing support or digitization, according to National Small Industries Corporation CMD Gaurang Dixit.

According to him, this partnership will enable MSMEs all around the nation to receive the assistance they need to grow their companies both nationally and internationally.

"With our ongoing commitment to triple exports from India by 2027 to USD 10 billion annually, we look forward to supporting more small businesses in their efforts by providing potential access to online and offline markets in India and globally." said Jason Fremstad, Senior Vice President, Supplier Development at Walmart.
