News Synopsis

Former national airline ‘Air India’ was acquired by the Tata Group a few months when the loss-making airline was decided to put on sale by the Government of India. Tata group emerged as the highest bidder amongst all others. Recently Air India was handed over to the tata group a day after Republic day on 27th January 2022. The emeritus chairman of the Tata Group, the veteran industrialist Mr. Ratan Tata extended a warm welcome to passengers onboard the flights of Air India. He, in a tweet, stated: ”The Tata Group welcomes Air India’s new customers and is excited to work together to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of passenger comfort and service.” The Tata group has committed itself to transform the loss-making airline into a world-class airline. Air India has always been close to Tata’s heart as it was originally launched by JRD Tata in 1932 and was nationalized in 1953 and now acquired by them again after almost seven decades thus completing a full circle.
