News Synopsis

Indian Railways is playing a crucial role in supporting the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' (MMMD) campaign, a heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our nation.

As part of this patriotic initiative, sacred soil and rice collected from households nationwide are being used to create memorials at Kartavyapath, near India Gate in New Delhi. To facilitate the transportation of volunteers bearing these symbolic materials from across the country, the Ministry of Railways has organized 45 Special Kalash Yatra Trains.

'Meri Mati Mera Desh' Campaign Essentials

The 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign, encompassing the Amrit Kalash Yatra, involves gathering soil and rice grains from over 6 lakh villages in rural areas and from wards in urban areas. This collection journey proceeds to the block level, where soil from all villages in the block is combined, and then advances to the state capital.

The mitti from the state level is eventually sent to the national capital, accompanied by thousands of Amrit Kalash Yatris. The culmination of this campaign took place on October 31 at Kartavya Path, Delhi.

Active Participation of Ministry of Railways

The Ministry of Railways has been actively engaged in all events organized under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (AKAM). Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the conclusion of the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign's Amrit Kalash Yatra and emphasized the collective potential of the youth to drive the country's progress.

He highlighted how the 'Mera Bharat Yuva' organization will play a significant role in the nation's development.

The Success of the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' Campaign

The 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign achieved remarkable success, with various activities and ceremonies held across different levels, including panchayat, village, block, urban, local body, state, and national levels.

These activities comprised the construction of Shilaphalakam (Memorial) to express gratitude to fallen heroes, 'Panch Pran' pledge taking, tree planting, and the development of 'Amrit Vatika' (Vasudha Vandhan), among others.

Railways' Contribution to 'AKAM'

Indian Railways has played a significant role in raising awareness about key 'AKAM' events, such as the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative, 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,' and 'Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations.' The extensive railway network has contributed to disseminating these initiatives throughout the country, fostering a sense of patriotism and remembrance.

As of October 30, 2023, these elements will be available within the respective API, though their integration into your social management platform of choice may take some time.
