News Synopsis

The Director of Human Resources at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Alka Mittal has been given additional charges as the Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC. Alka Mittal takes over after two days of retirement of Subhash Kumar, the former Director who was also holding the additional charges of CMD.

Alka Mittal joined the ONGC in November 2018 and was also the first woman to take charge as a full-time Director at ONGC. The corporation is managed by the Board of Directors, who formulate the strategies, policies and review the performance of the corporation periodically.

The Board of Directors also manages the day to day business affairs of the company with overall supervision, control and guidence. The position for Director (Finance) is currently vacant on the ONGC board.

Alka Mittal holds a post-graduation degree in Economics, MBA (HRM) and Doctorate in Commerce and Business Studies. She joined the ONGC as a Graduate Trainee in 1985, later she was appointed as the Director (HR) and Chief Skill Development (CSD) of the company.
