First-ever Balika Panchayat to Promote Participatio of Girls in Politics

News Synopsis

The country's first-ever girl Panchayat, "Balika Panchayat", which become began in numerous villages of Gujarat's Kutch district, targets to sell the social and political improvement of the young girls and make sure their energetic participation of ladies in politics.

This is a completely unique initiative of the Women and Child Development Welfare branch of the Gujarat Government under the program the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. It began out in Kunaria, Maska, Motagua, and Vadsar villages of the Kutch district. The Ministry of Women and Child Development is also planning to start the girl panchayat all around the country.

"Balika Panchayat" is controlled by human beings within the 11-21 age group and its principal goal is to sell the social and political improvement of the woman infant and to dispose of the evil practices of the society including infant marriage, and the dowry system.

Garba Bharti, a member of the Balika Panchayat from Kutch, said, "Balika Panchayat is a panchayat of girls between the age of 10 and 21 years, whose principal goal is that the ladies have to get their nominations accomplished within the Panchayat's decision-making procedure and are active in politics since childhood."
