News Synopsis

After a three-year break, Air India has restarted nonstop service on the Delhi-Copenhagen-Delhi service in an effort to expand its presence in Europe.

After the recently resumed flights to Vienna and Milan, the addition of this service, according to the airline, will further strengthen Air India's position in Europe.

Being conveniently accessible by nonstop flight, Copenhagen is a well-known commercial, tourist, and educational hub in Europe. It is renowned for its scenic beauty, architecture, and cultural history, making it one of the most alluring travel destinations in Scandinavia.

In addition to meeting the needs of travellers, this service will assist the student community and the Indian diaspora in general. It will give Indian travellers easy access to Copenhagen as well as several other well-known locations nearby, such as Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday are now the days that Air India Flight AI157 operates from Delhi. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner used by Air India for this journey has a two-class cabin with 18 Business Class seats and 236 Economy Class seats.

With the addition of this service, Air India now operates 79 nonstop flights weekly between India and Europe. Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer for Air India, Nipun Aggarwal, stated: "A key element of Air India's Vihaan.

The impact of AI is greatly enhancing connectivity between India's major cities and popular international destinations. After the resumption of flights between Delhi and Vienna, the resumed non-stop service from Delhi to Copenhagen demonstrates our commitment to creating a significant global hub in India's capital."

Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience & Global Head, Ground Handling, Air India, lit the ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon at IGI Airport earlier on March 1 during a ceremony to mark the resumption of the flight.

On this flight, which was fully booked, customers could also choose from a specially curated buffet. At the airport in Copenhagen, AI 157 received a warm welcome from dignitaries from the Indian Embassy,  travelers, and local business partners and corporations who attended the occasion organised there to commemorate the event.

On Thursday morning, AI 158, the return flight, touched down in Delhi.
