Union Cabinet Approves ₹2,584 Crore Small Hydro Power Scheme to Boost Rural Clean Energy

In a major push towards clean energy and rural development, the Union Cabinet has approved a comprehensive Small Hydro Power Development Scheme alongside key infrastructure and industrial initiatives. Approval of Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA)

In addition to the hydro power initiative, the Cabinet also approved the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA), a large-scale industrial development program designed to transform India’s manufacturing landscape.

The scheme comes with a substantial allocation of ₹33,660 crore and envisions the development of 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across the country. These parks will be equipped with ready-to-use infrastructure, enabling industries to commence operations quickly without facing delays related to land acquisition or basic utilities.

Support for Cotton Farmers Through MSP Funding

The project involves the development of a 101-kilometre stretch of National Highway 927, connecting Barabanki to Bahraich. The estimated cost of the project is over ₹6,969 crore.
