News Synopsis

TweetDeck, a social media dashboard application for managing the microblogging site Twitter, will no longer be available as a standalone Mac app from July 1st.

Twitter began placing blue banners on top warning users with the release of TweetDeck for Mac apps. 9To5Google reports that will be only available for one month.

According to a tweet from the TweetDeck team, “We are saying goodbye to TweetDeck for the Mac app to focus on making TweetDeck even better and testing our new preview.” TweetDeck will be available till July 1 only.

According to the report, TweetDeck for Mac was improved for the web version last year. The company admitted at the time that the app was "not very much loved" and  was an example of "a Twitter-based service that we will continue to invest in."

Another strange aspect of the TweetDeck Mac app's abrupt termination is that it doesn't require any maintenance work from Twitter as it's a website wrapper implementation. Last year, the microblogging site announced a new and improved version of TweetDeck. At that time,  the new features were being tested by a small group of users in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
