News Synopsis

On World EV Day, Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) inaugurated Mumbai’s first co-branded TATA.ev MegaCharger hub, marking a major milestone in India’s electric mobility transition. Located at The Leela Mumbai Hotel, near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the facility is designed to cater to a wide spectrum of EV users—from private car owners and taxis to ride-hailing fleets and logistics operators.

Mumbai’s First Large-Scale TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub

The MegaCharger hub in Mumbai is strategically located to serve both business and tourist traffic in the busy Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex–South Mumbai corridor. This hub not only strengthens the EV ecosystem in India’s financial capital but also sets a benchmark for future charging facilities across the country.

100% Renewable Energy-Powered Charging Facility

One of the standout features of the new hub is its commitment to sustainability. The entire infrastructure is powered by renewable energy, aligning with Tata Power’s broader mission of delivering clean energy solutions. This ensures that the transition to electric vehicles contributes directly to reducing carbon emissions and creating a greener future for urban mobility.

Fast and Seamless Charging Experience

The Mumbai MegaCharger hub is equipped with:

  • 8 fast DC chargers supporting speeds of up to 120kW.

  • 16 charging bays that allow 16 EVs to charge simultaneously.

This large-scale setup eliminates long waiting times, even during peak hours, while offering 24/7 accessibility for EV owners. Whether it’s a quick top-up or a full recharge, the hub provides a fast, reliable, and convenient experience for all types of electric vehicles.

Tata Leaders on the Inauguration

During the launch, Tata Group leaders emphasized the importance of this facility in India’s EV transition.

  • Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, highlighted:
“The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure.”

  • Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., added:
“Tata Motors has been at the forefront of India’s EV revolution. This TATA.ev MegaCharger is the first of many joint installations aimed at building a strong and reliable charging network nationwide.”

Exclusive Benefits for TATA.ev Customers

The Mumbai MegaCharger hub is also part of the growing TATA.ev MegaCharger network, a flagship initiative by Tata. EV owners under this program enjoy special privileges such as:

  • Up to 25% discount on charging tariffs

  • Priority access to chargers

  • Convenient booking through the Tata Power EZ Charge App

The Tata Power EZ Charge App already has over 4 lakh registered users. Soon, services will also be integrated into the iRA.ev Connected Car App for TATA.ev customers.

Tata Power’s Expanding EV Charging Network

With the inauguration of this MegaCharger hub, Tata Power reinforces its position as India’s largest EV charging solutions provider. The company has already established:

  • Over 1,000 green charging points in Mumbai

  • 5,500+ public and captive charging points across India

  • 1,200+ bus charging points for public transport

  • 1.4 lakh home chargers nationwide

Currently covering 630+ cities and towns, Tata Power aims to expand to 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030, further accelerating India’s EV adoption.
