News Synopsis

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to restart on May 17, following a week-long suspension imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament will resume with an exciting clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In an official statement, BCCI said, “After extensive consultations with government and security agencies and all key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season.”

RCB vs KKR to Kick Off Rescheduled IPL 2025 Matches

The much-anticipated RCB vs KKR match, originally slated for May 17, will now serve as the opening fixture post-resumption. As there has been no change in venue, date, or timing, ticket holders can attend the match using their originally issued passes.

RCB confirmed, “Since there has been no shift in venue, date, or match timing, all previously purchased tickets will still grant entry to the game.”

Ticket Refund Policy Updated: No Refund for RCB vs KKR Match

Initially, when the IPL was suspended, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had announced full refunds for two of their home games:

  • RCB vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 13)

  • RCB vs Kolkata Knight Riders (May 17)

The team had posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Original ticket holders of #RCBvSRH and #RCBvKKR at the Chinnaswamy Stadium are eligible for a full refund, subject to terms and conditions.”

However, with the RCB vs KKR game proceeding as per the original plan, the refund for this match has been withdrawn. Fans can now use their already purchased tickets for entry, with no need for reissuance.

Only those who bought tickets for the cancelled RCB vs SRH match will receive full refunds.

IPL 2025 Revised Schedule from May 17 to June 3

According to the revised IPL 2025 schedule, the tournament will run from May 17 to June 3, concluding with the IPL Final on Tuesday, June 3. The suspension had been triggered due to geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, which have since eased after a ceasefire agreement was reached.

This greenlighted the BCCI to resume IPL activities in full swing.
