The latest Eco-Friendly solution being promoted by the Railways to address the problem is a pocket-sized reusable and biodegradable spittoon with seeds that will grow into plants when it is disposed of. Public spitting is still a major nuisance despite tougher rules that were put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to calculations, the Indian Railways spends a lot of water and almost Rs 1,200 crore each year to remove the stains and markings left by spitting on its property, particularly by Pan and Tobacco users.
At 42 stations, vending machines or kiosks would sell spittoon sachets for as little as Rs 5 to Rs 10 in an effort to discourage passengers from spitting on Railway Infrastructure.
A Startup called EzySpit has received contracts from the Western, Northern, and Central Railway Zones for this.
Passengers may spit whenever they want, wherever they want, and leave the training property without leaving unpleasant marks thanks to these pocket-sized spittoons.
According to its manufacturer, the Product Employs Macromolecule Pulp Technology and has a constituent that Captures Bacteria and Viruses Found in Saliva.
These biodegradable pouches, which come in various sizes and may be used up to 15 or 20 times, have included seeds and a material that collects spittle and solidifies it. When discarded in mud or soil after usage, these pouches Promote Plant Development.
The business, which is located in Nagpur, has already started to install EzySpit vending machines at stations. Additionally, they have agreements with the Municipal Corporations of Aurangabad and Nagpur.

Clean India is one mission started by the Modi Government. It has been 7 years since the mission started and we still need a lot of awareness about the issue of cleanliness. We have seen a lot of people just spitting here and there randomly. It not just causes uncleanliness but also spreads a lot of diseases along with it.
To get rid of this problem the Indian Railway has come up with an idea to install spittoons in the railway premises so people stop spitting everywhere. The spittoons installed will be biodegradable and will be in different sizes. The pouches will have a type of seeds that will turn the waste into solid. The process of installation has already started in the city of Nagpur under a contract with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. This is a good initiation towards making India Clean. Once the installation is complete the fine for spitting on campus will be charged. It will be Rs. 500 per person. The government has made efforts to make successfully follow through with the mission but it is also important for the people to follow the rules and get along with the process.
