News Synopsis

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest automaker, announced on Friday that it will invest Rs 11,000 crore in the first phase of its new manufacturing plant in Haryana.

According to a regulatory filing of the company, it completed the allotment process of an 800-acre site at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonipat with HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited).

The first phase of the new plant with a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum is expected to be commissioned by 2025, subject to administrative approvals. The investment would be more than Rs 11,000 crore in the first phase.

MSI has said that the site will have space for capacity expansion to include more manufacturing plants in the future. Currently, MSI has a cumulative production capacity of approximately 5.5 lack units per quarter or approximately 22 lack units per year at its manufacturing facility in Haryana and Gujarat.
