News Synopsis

MakeMyTrip, a leading online travel company, has unveiled a new campaign that humorously tackles common travel challenges. The campaign focuses on promoting MakeMyTrip’s various accommodation options, including international hotels, homestays, villas, and domestic hotels. Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh play pivotal roles in showcasing relatable travel frustrations and how MakeMyTrip provides easy solutions.

The Campaign Concept and Structure

Directed by Abhinav Pratiman of Early Man Films, and written by Tanmay Bhat, Devaiah Bopanna, Puneet Chadha, and Deep Joshi of Moonshot Creative Agency, the campaign consists of three films. These films are live across multiple touchpoints, including TV, digital platforms, and social media channels.

Addressing Real Travel Challenges with Humor

The first film of the campaign is set in an international hotel where Alia and Ranveer find themselves struggling to locate a familiar “wheatish” food item. The humorous situation highlights the “Loved by Indians” filter on MakeMyTrip, which helps travelers find hotels offering Indian cuisine and other preferences to make their stay more comfortable abroad.

Humorously Showcasing Affordable Travel Options

In the second film, the focus shifts to the common dilemma of overspending on accommodations, which often leaves travelers with little to spend on experiences and keepsakes. Alia and Ranveer humorously repurpose hotel amenities like bath products and shower caps as gifts. This segment emphasizes MakeMyTrip’s commitment to providing affordable stays with attractive offers, such as a 25% discount for new users on domestic hotels.

Highlighting the Variety of Accommodation Options

The final film in the series centers around MakeMyTrip’s villa options. Alia, expecting a fully serviced villa, finds herself in a humorous situation when Ranveer, the host, expects her to manage things on her own. This segment underscores MakeMyTrip’s diverse range of serviced villas, from budget to luxury, allowing travelers to select accommodations that best suit their needs.

Marketing Message and Campaign Impact

Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Marketing Officer & Chief Business Officer of MakeMyTrip, spoke about the campaign’s focus on real travel challenges, such as finding the right amenities and managing budgets effectively. He emphasized that the campaign aims to provide travelers with ease and delight in making their accommodation choices, with Alia and Ranveer bringing humor and relatability to each scenario.

The Campaign's Presence Across Multiple Platforms

This campaign, directed by Abhinav Pratiman and written by the creative team at Moonshot, is being promoted across a variety of media channels, including television, digital platforms, and social media, to reach a broad audience.

MakeMyTrip’s Sponsorship in the India-South Africa T20 Series

In addition to the campaign, MakeMyTrip is also a ground sponsor for the ongoing India-South Africa T20 series, expanding its presence in the sports and entertainment sectors.
