JioHotstar Launches New Monthly Subscription Plans in India

JioHotstar has kicked off the year with a major update for OTT users in India. The platform has revamped its subscription structure by introducing monthly plans across Mobile, Super, and Premium categories. With no long-term commitment required, users can now choose a plan based on their viewing needs. According to the company, the move reflects changing viewing habits and rising consumption on larger screens. The new plans will be available starting January 28.

JioHotstar Introduces Flexible Monthly Subscription Plans

OTT users now have more freedom as JioHotstar has rolled out monthly subscription options for all three categories—Mobile, Super, and Premium. This change removes the earlier long-duration lock-in, allowing users to switch or renew plans every month depending on their preferences.

Mobile Plan: The Most Affordable Entry Point

The Mobile Plan is designed for users who prefer watching content exclusively on smartphones.

• Price: ₹79 per month

• Device Limit: 1 mobile device at a time

• Video Quality: Up to 720p HD

• Ads: Yes (ad-supported plan)

This plan does not include Hollywood content by default. Users who want access to international titles will need to purchase a separate add-on.

Hollywood Add-on: Charged Separately

Hollywood content is not included with the Mobile Plan by default.

• Add-on Price: ₹49 per month

Users can also opt for quarterly or annual versions of the Hollywood add-on. JioHotstar says this approach allows users to customize content access while avoiding unnecessary expenses.

Super Plan: Streaming from Mobile to TV

The Super Plan is aimed at users who watch content across multiple devices, including smartphones, laptops, and smart TVs.

• Device Limit: 2 devices simultaneously

• Video Quality: Up to 1080p Full HD

• Ads: Yes (ad-supported)

Unlike the Mobile Plan, Hollywood content is included in the base package. This plan is positioned as a balanced option for mid-range and family users.

Premium Plan: Built for Families and 4K Viewers

The Premium Plan is the most feature-rich offering from JioHotstar.

• Price: ₹299 per month

• Device Limit: 4 devices simultaneously

• Video Quality: 4K resolution with Dolby Vision

• Ads: Mostly ad-free (ads remain during live sports and live shows)

Hollywood content is included at no extra cost. This plan is ideal for families and users who prefer watching content on large screens.
