News Synopsis

Jaguar has unveiled the Type 00, a revolutionary all-electric coupe that marks the brand’s bold step into the future. This new concept car is a combination of Jaguar’s futuristic technological advancements and design elements that pay homage to its iconic past. With a strong emphasis on a new design philosophy called “exuberant modernism,” the Type 00 is set to redefine Jaguar’s automotive legacy.

Futuristic Design Meets Iconic Influence

The design of the Type 00 draws inspiration from both the past and the present, blending classic luxury elements with futuristic aesthetics. The car features a long bonnet and minimal window openings, reminiscent of iconic luxury cars like the Bugatti Royale. Additionally, its modern proportions bring to mind bold, futuristic designs such as the Tesla Cybertruck and the Rolls-Royce Spectre. This fusion of old and new is central to the Type 00’s design ethos.

Exterior Design: Seamless Elegance

The exterior of the Type 00 stands out with its minimalist design. The front of the car features a prominent grille with Jaguar’s reimagined logo, framed by raised horizontal bars. This striking graphic continues across the bonnet, roof, and rear, creating a continuous flow that contributes to the car’s sleek appearance. The tail-lights are hidden, integrated seamlessly into the body to maintain the car’s uncluttered aesthetic.

Challenging Traditional Car Proportions

The Type 00 challenges traditional design boundaries with its cab-rearward stance and large 23-inch wheels. The “prestige mass,” or the space between the front axle and dashboard, gives the car a dramatic, powerful presence. This design element is meant to signify the car’s bold departure from conventional automobile proportions.

A Revolutionary Interior: Butterfly Doors and Customization

Inside, the Type 00 features butterfly doors that open to a cabin designed with sophistication and functionality in mind. A brass spine divides the space, giving it a modern and luxurious feel. The console is made from travertine stone, and the seats are upholstered in wool-blend fabrics, creating a contemporary and minimalist atmosphere. The cabin also features concealed screens that only appear when needed, enhancing the car’s sleek look.

A unique feature of the cabin is the “prism case,” which contains three totems made from brass, alabaster, and travertine. When placed in the center console, each totem alters the cabin’s settings such as lighting and sound, offering a new level of personalization.

Cutting-Edge Technology and Innovative Features

The Type 00 introduces several groundbreaking technologies. It replaces the traditional rear window with rear-view cameras integrated into brass side panels, paired with Jaguar’s Clearsight technology to improve visibility. This innovation not only enhances the car’s performance but also maintains its clean, bold design.

Jaguar’s Commitment to Sustainability

Named to honor Jaguar’s E-Type legacy, the Type 00 signifies the brand’s commitment to a zero-emission future. The “00” symbolises a reset in Jaguar’s design direction while highlighting the brand’s dedication to electric mobility. Jaguar aims for the production model of the Type 00 to offer a range of 478 miles on the WLTP cycle, with fast-charging capabilities that add 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes.

Premiere at Miami Art Week

Jaguar chose Miami Art Week as the backdrop for the debut of the Type 00, reflecting the car’s appeal to creative and diverse audiences. The pastel pink and blue colors of the car pay tribute to the city’s vibrant Art Deco architecture, aligning the vehicle with the artistic culture of Miami.

Launch Plans and Future Market

The production version of the Type 00 is set to launch in late 2025, based on Jaguar’s new Electric Architecture (JEA). The vehicle will be a four-door GT model, initially targeting markets in the UK and the US. This new model is set to become a symbol of Jaguar’s transformation into a premium electric vehicle brand, shaping the future of the company.
