InMobi Unveils New AI-Driven Commerce Platform

News Synopsis
Glance, a subsidiary of InMobi renowned for its lockscreen monetisation solutions, has officially launched its AI-driven commerce platform, Glance AI, in 140 countries. The new platform aims to deliver personalised shopping experiences based on users' style preferences and special occasions, all powered by artificial intelligence.
Ambitious User Growth Targets
The company is targeting 100 million users within the first year of launch, with a significant portion of the user base expected to come from India. Glance has already established a strong foothold in the Indian market through its strategic partnerships with smartphone manufacturers, which gives it an edge in rapid user acquisition.
Key Markets: India, US, and Japan
In addition to India, Glance AI is expected to gain early traction in developed markets like the United States and Japan. According to InMobi and Glance founder and CEO Naveen Tewari, this platform could mark a pivotal moment for consumer AI in India, akin to the transformative impact of UPI on digital payments.
Available on Android and iOS
After a trial phase in key regions like India and the US, Glance AI is now accessible on both Android and iOS platforms. The app leverages AI to offer personalised styling suggestions by analyzing user-submitted selfies along with their fashion preferences, body shape, color choices, and the nature of the occasion.
AI-Generated Looks and Seamless Shopping Experience
Glance AI allows users to generate AI-curated looks, which can be adjusted according to user preferences. These generated images serve as an entry point into a seamless commerce journey, made possible through partnerships with a wide range of brands across various markets. Users can either save their AI-generated looks or directly shop the suggested outfits via the app.
Brand Partnerships and Ecosystem Expansion
In the US, where Glance AI initially launched in beta, the platform has already partnered with 400 brands and retailers. In India, the platform has onboarded around 15 partners, including major marketplaces like Myntra. Glance expects to grow this number to 100 brand partnerships in the coming weeks.
Early Adoption Metrics
Currently, Glance AI is live on over 100,000 devices in the US. Data from the beta phase indicates that nearly 40% of users have transitioned from browsing AI-generated looks to engaging in the actual commerce experience, highlighting the platform's strong user engagement.
Revenue Potential and Monetisation Strategy
Based on early user behavior, Glance AI is projected to generate an average revenue per user (ARPU) of $50 in the US. Globally, the company anticipates an average ARPU of around $15 by the end of the first year. The monetisation strategy includes a revenue-sharing model with brand partners, where Glance’s share ranges between 20% to 30% per sale.
Scalability and Future Prospects
While monetisation projections remain fluid, Tewari believes the potential is significant. If the current growth trajectory continues, Glance AI could accelerate the company's expansion beyond its existing 70–90% annual growth rate seen with its lockscreen products.
Launch on Glance TV
In addition to mobile devices, the new commerce platform has also been integrated into Glance TV. This large-screen extension of Glance's lockscreen solutions uses AI to recommend products and content on idle television screens, offering a new channel for user engagement and monetisation.
