News Synopsis
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, today announced that they will be launching multiple new products in the Indian market to compete with India’s largest two-wheeler brand Hero MotoCorp. The company is looking to launch its product in the entry-level segment below 150 cc. Currently, Honda only offers CD110 in this category. In a recent interaction, Atsushi Ogata, President, HMSI said: “Of course, we have a low-end model CD110, but relatively it’s very weak compared to our competitors. It means we have never matched demand with such kinds of customer groups. So, I had committed to investigate how to enter this low-end MC segment. This feasibility study (is) already done so we are going to develop this kind of motorcycle in the low-end category”. In the 110 cc segment Hero MotoCorp has a market share of 48% whereas Honda’s market share is a mere 16%. Mr. Ogata said that they are also planning to launch electric vehicles in the coming years.
