Google has started rolling out these AI-powered photo editing features, designed to make photo editing more accessible, especially for users without professional editing experience. The tools are built on Gemini AI and have been tailored specifically for Indian users.

Google Photos AI Features Now Available in India

According to Google, the new features are based on Gemini AI and are currently available for Android users in India. To use these features, users must have:

• At least 4GB RAM

• Android 8.0 or newer

These tools were tested in select countries last year and are now officially available in India.

Edit Photos Using Simple Words and Voice Commands

With the new update, users can simply tell Google Photos what they want to change. Commands like “blur the background,” “remove window reflections,” or “improve lighting” can be executed instantly.

Multiple edits can also be performed with a single command, such as straightening the image, adjusting shadows, and enhancing colors. The goal is to make photo editing easy even for users unfamiliar with advanced editing tools.

Smart Edits for People in Photos

The new AI features are not limited to background editing. Users can also request changes related to people in the photo, such as:

• Opening closed eyes

• Adding a smile

Google says these edits deliver more accurate results using private face groups, especially in group photos where small details are often missed.

Nano Banana Adds a Creative Touch

Google Photos has also introduced a feature called Nano Banana, which enables users to creatively transform their images. With this tool, users can:

• Add furniture to a room

• Extend photo frames

• Restore old photographs

• Place people or pets into entirely new scenes

This feature is aimed at users who want to go beyond basic edits and give their photos a completely new look.

Support for Indian Languages and Greater Transparency

Google confirmed that the new AI editing features support multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati, among others.

Additionally, Google Photos is introducing C2PA content credentials, allowing users to see what AI-generated changes have been made to an image. This move is intended to increase transparency and build trust around edited photos.
