News Synopsis

India’s telecom operators are likely to witness increased demand in 4g data by the second quarter of this year. This is going to increase their revenue and will help them to expand. Also reports are surfacing that government and telecom companies are planning to launch 5g services in the next couple of year. Other Reports state that the prevalent chip shortage is going to be resolved by the second half of the year and thus leading to increased production of smartphones. Telecom companies have been struggling with decreasing numbers of new 4g consumers lately. Rohan Dhamija, head (India & Middle East) at Analysys Mason, said: “Mobile data tariffs in India are still amongst the lowest in the world even after the hikes last November, and one can expect the chip shortage problem to ease by Q2 FY23, which would boost smartphone availability and revive data consumption.”
