News Synopsis

There was a time when designing was a specialized skill limited to professionals. However, platforms like Canva have transformed how individuals create and visualize their ideas. While intricate design tasks still require expertise, Canva enables users to complete quick design projects using customizable templates. From social media posts to resumes and business presentations, Canva has simplified designing for the masses.

Canva’s Growing Popularity in India

India has emerged as a significant market for Canva, with an astounding 666 million designs created using its platform in 2024 alone. This rapid adoption underscores India’s increasing reliance on digital tools for creative expression. Recognizing the potential, Canva is now set to expand its reach further by launching a dedicated Hindi version of its services.

Hindi Website and App: Bridging the Language Gap

To cater to its growing Indian user base, Canva is developing a native Hindi app and website. While the platform currently supports 11 languages and includes a translation tool, this new initiative aims to provide an end-to-end Hindi experience. The move aligns with Canva’s vision to make design accessible to a broader audience, particularly those more comfortable using regional languages.

At a recent event in New Delhi, Chandrika Deb, India Manager for Canva, unveiled the first glimpse of the Hindi website. She emphasized that Hindi was chosen as the initial focus due to its vast user base and influence. However, Canva also has plans to expand its language support to other Indian languages in the future.

Enhancing User Experience with Hindi Integration

While translation tools have helped bridge the language divide, Canva aims to offer a more seamless experience for Hindi-speaking users. The company is working on optimizing content creation, improving search functionality, and integrating AI-powered tools in Hindi.

“We want users to interact with the platform effortlessly in their preferred language,” said Deb. To achieve this, Canva is developing localized landing pages, intuitive navigation, and better search capabilities, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience.

AI-Powered Innovations in Canva

In addition to its language expansion, Canva is heavily investing in artificial intelligence (AI). Cameron Adams, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Canva, revealed that AI will be a primary focus for the company in 2025.

Currently, Canva offers AI-driven tools like Magic Design and Magic Write, which assist users in generating creative content efficiently. However, Adams explained that the goal is to enhance AI’s role in the design process further. Rather than just generating a final output, Canva aims to create a dynamic, interactive AI system that allows users to modify specific elements, be it text generation or image creation. This approach fosters a collaborative environment between AI and users, making design more intuitive and personalized.

Expanding Canva’s Role in Education

While Canva is widely used across various industries, its presence in the education sector is particularly noteworthy. Teachers, students, and educational institutions rely on the platform for creating visually appealing learning materials, assignments, and presentations.

To support educators, Canva is offering its Pro for Education services entirely free for K-12 teachers, students, and eligible schools worldwide. The company is also actively exploring partnerships with state education departments and governments to integrate Canva for Education into classrooms. This initiative aims to provide better learning tools and enhance digital literacy among students.

The Future of Canva in India

Canva’s expansion into Hindi and its growing focus on AI-driven design solutions demonstrate its commitment to making creative tools accessible to all. By prioritizing language inclusivity and technological advancements, Canva is set to redefine how Indian users engage with design.

With further plans to support more regional languages and integrate advanced AI features, Canva is poised to become an essential tool for creators, businesses, and educators across the country.
