BSNL to Install 1.12 lakh Towers across India

News Synopsis

On Wednesday, telecom minister, Ashwini Vaishnav informed in the lower house of the Parliament, Lok Sabha, that state-backed Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will soon launch indigenous 4G telecom network. For this purpose, it will be installing around 1.12 lakh towers across the length and breadth of the nation. The telecom minister who is also the Railway minister of India further informed that internet connectivity in trains can only be made available when 5G services are launched in India. 4G connectivity gets disrupted in trains running at the speed of 100 km per hour. He told: “if a train is running more than 100 km speed, we need a 5G network”. During Question Hour, Mr. Vaishnav said: “I am happy to inform you that the 4G telecom network is ready for roll out soon and it is developed in India by Indian engineers and scientists. Our development of 4G network is being appreciated worldwide and it has a core network, radio network with full telecom equipment.” Currently, BSNL is in the process of ordering 6,000 towers immediately. After this, it will order 6000 more and then 1 lakh towers will be ordered to be installed in India.
