BSNL Introduces SIM Home Delivery and Online Ordering After 5G Launch

News Synopsis
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s state-run telecom giant, has launched a convenient new service that lets customers order SIM cards online and get them delivered to their doorstep. This comes shortly after BSNL’s soft launch of 5G services in Hyderabad, as the company accelerates its digital transformation.
The initiative aims to enhance customer experience by eliminating the need to visit physical stores. Through this service, BSNL is catering to the growing demand for hassle-free telecom solutions in India.
New Portal for SIM Delivery Requests
To make SIM ordering simple and user-friendly, BSNL has rolled out a dedicated portal. Customers can visit the official website and place a request for a new SIM card without stepping out of their homes. The process is designed to be quick, transparent, and secure.
Whether users are looking for a prepaid or postpaid connection, they can choose their preferred type during the ordering process. The portal allows people to request SIMs for themselves, family members, or even acquaintances.
Self-KYC Made Simple on BSNL Website
A standout feature of this service is the self-KYC (Know Your Customer) facility offered on the website. This means customers can complete the mandatory KYC verification online without visiting a BSNL office.
Here’s how it works:
-
Enter your PIN code, full name, and an alternate mobile number.
-
Select the type of SIM request — for yourself, family, or others.
-
Complete the self-KYC steps as guided on the portal.
Once the form is submitted, an OTP (One-Time Password) is sent to the alternate number provided, helping verify the user’s identity securely.
Customer Support for Smooth Experience
If customers face any challenges during the SIM ordering process, BSNL has set up a helpline number (1800-180-1503) for assistance. The support team is available to guide users through any technical or procedural difficulties they may encounter.
This move reflects BSNL’s commitment to customer-centric services as it modernizes its operations and expands its telecom footprint.
BSNL’s Broader 4G and 5G Network Plans
The SIM home delivery service is part of BSNL’s larger strategy to boost its market share as it upgrades its network. The telecom operator has ambitious plans to roll out 1 lakh 4G sites across India by June 2025.
Additionally, BSNL is preparing to extend its 5G services to more cities in the near future, following its initial soft launch. This will provide high-speed connectivity to mobile users at affordable rates.
BSNL has already introduced Q-5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services in select locations. Priced at Rs 999 per month, these plans offer 100 Mbps speeds, positioning BSNL as a competitive player in India’s 5G race.
Affordable Recharge Plans Driving SIM Demand
BSNL continues to attract customers with its cost-effective recharge plans, which are generally priced lower than those of private telecom operators. This price advantage is contributing to a surge in demand for BSNL SIM cards, especially among value-conscious users.
With the convenience of online SIM ordering and doorstep delivery, BSNL is well-placed to capture new subscribers as it expands its network services.
