News Synopsis

This news is not worth celebrating. The cases are declining but it is also true that many states can face a third wave of the pandemic. Maharashtra and Karela are experiencing a huge surge in the number of COVID cases. Keeping all this in mind, Bihar should reconsider its decision. Because if there’s one thing that the second wave of the virus taught us, it’s that our health sector is extremely fragile and can crumble down at the onset of any massive tragedy.

If the third wave catches fire across the nation, which many doctors and scientists believe it will, then it’s not far-fetched to assume that our health sector can collapse. Nothing much has changed between March and August and there’s no doubt that many will struggle. On top of that, many research institutes suggest that the Delta variant is the deadliest strain of the COVID-19 virus.

The state government in Bihar, despite knowing all this, has taken the decision to re-open all the public spaces. Add to that, the many guidelines such as mask and social distancing have taken a back seat. All in all, the Bihar government should reconsider its decision and should wait for a while before making such hasty decisions in a bid to re-open its economy.
