News Synopsis

Aston Martin has officially become the first automotive brand to integrate Apple CarPlay Ultra, a next-generation, deeply immersive version of Apple’s in-car software. This advanced interface will soon be available in Aston Martin’s premium lineup, including the DBX, DB12, Vantage, and the upcoming Vanquish. It will come as standard in all new vehicle orders and roll out to existing vehicles via updates through official dealerships in the coming weeks.

A Vision Shared by Leaders

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark expressed pride in this milestone, noting the brand's relentless commitment to innovation and luxury experiences. “Our collaboration with Apple underscores our drive to deliver cutting-edge performance and user-centric in-vehicle technology,” he said. Hallmark emphasized that CarPlay Ultra aligns with the automaker’s bespoke infotainment strategy, blending power, precision, and personalization.

CarPlay Ultra: More Than Just Infotainment

Apple CarPlay Ultra introduces a radical enhancement over traditional smartphone-car integrations. Unlike earlier iterations that were confined to the infotainment display, CarPlay Ultra extends across multiple screens—including the instrument cluster. Drivers can now experience a fully integrated digital cockpit with customizable speedometers, tachometers, navigation maps, and media controls.

Designed for Personalization

A core feature of Apple CarPlay Ultra is its high degree of customization. Users can select from various dial themes, layout styles, and interface elements to tailor the display to their preferences. The system also maintains Aston Martin’s distinct design language, thanks to close collaboration between Apple and the automaker's design teams.

Unified Experience for iPhone Users

Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, emphasized the seamless experience the update brings to iPhone users. “CarPlay has transformed the way people interact with their vehicles. With CarPlay Ultra, we’re offering a smarter, safer, and more integrated in-car experience,” said Borchers. He added that Aston Martin is the first of many brands that will adopt this technology going forward.

Control Vehicle Functions from CarPlay

Beyond aesthetics and convenience, CarPlay Ultra significantly enhances usability. Drivers can operate climate controls, radio, and other vehicle systems using touchscreen inputs, physical buttons, or Siri voice commands. The platform also supports iPhone-powered widgets, optimized to fit Aston Martin’s 10.25-inch infotainment display and instrument panel, providing relevant data at a glance.

Built on Aston Martin’s Proprietary Infotainment System

The integration of CarPlay Ultra is made possible by Aston Martin’s in-house infotainment platform, which was introduced in 2023 with the debut of the DB12. Unlike outsourced systems, this bespoke platform gives Aston Martin complete control over the user experience. It features Pure Black touchscreen technology, multi-finger gesture support, and retains physical buttons for frequently used controls such as gear selection, driving modes, and climate settings.

CarPlay Ultra Launch Timeline and Compatibility

Initially launching in the United States and Canada, Apple CarPlay Ultra will soon expand to global markets within the next year. It will be available on new orders of the DBX, DB12, Vantage, and Vanquish starting immediately and will roll out to current vehicles via software updates. The system requires an iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 18.54 or above for full functionality.
