All Eyes On Indian Woman Hockey Team At Day 8 of Commonwealth Games 2022

News Synopsis

India's women's hockey team will try to build on their Olympic success by reaching the final of the Commonwealth Games 2022 when they face superpower Australia in a semifinal match on Day 8 in Birmingham today. A win for the women's team guarantees them at least a silver medal.

 

In other squash mixed doubles action, Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghoshal will compete for a semifinal position, while PV Sindhu and other Indian shuttlers such as Kidambi Srikanth, Gayatri Gopichand, Jolly Treesa, Chirag Shetty, and Satwik Rankireddy will compete for a quarterfinal spot.

Manika Batra, a table tennis star, will also attempt to put the disappointment of missing out on a team medal behind her when she competes in the mixed doubles quarterfinals with Sathiyan Gnansekaran. Hima Das, India's top runner, will also compete today in the women's 200m semifinal.

The Commonwealth Games 2022 are being held in Birmingham from July 29 to August 8, with Indian competitors competing in 15 different sports. Team India have already collected 18 medals, which include 5 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze.
