News Synopsis

A senior official from the state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board said on Tuesday that the Adani group is looking ahead to invest in the energy and wind sector of the country. The senior officials from Adani visited the northeastern district of Mannar on Monday. They inspected the wind power farm in Mannar as well.

Other than this Adani group has recently signed a deal with Sri Lanka to develop and run the strategic Colombo ports Western Container Terminal. The group failed to gain the Eastern Container Terminal because of the mounting opposition from local port trade unions. The government also cancelled the agreement with India and Japan on the ETC and offered the contract of WCT.
