Yamaha has officially entered India’s electric two-wheeler market with the launch of its first electric scooter, the Yamaha EC-06. Priced at ₹1,67,600 (ex-showroom), the scooter will initially be available in select cities through Yamaha’s Blue Square premium dealerships. At launch, it is offered in a single Bluish White colour option.

Yamaha Enters India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Segment

Yamaha has officially made its debut in the Indian electric scooter segment by launching the EC-06. This marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands beyond internal combustion and hybrid models into full-electric mobility.

The Yamaha EC-06 is priced at ₹1,67,600 (ex-showroom) and will be sold initially in select cities via Yamaha’s Blue Square premium dealerships.

Battery, Motor, Power, and Range Details

The Yamaha EC-06 is equipped with a fixed 4kWh battery pack paired with an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM).

According to Yamaha, the electric scooter delivers:

  • Maximum power: 6.7 kW

  • Peak torque: 26 Nm

  • Top speed: 79 km/h

  • Claimed IDC range: 169 km

These figures position the EC-06 as a practical urban electric scooter with a focus on efficiency and everyday usability.

Charging Time and Warranty

The scooter can be charged using a regular household power socket. A full charge takes approximately 8 hours.

Yamaha is offering a battery warranty of 3 years or 30,000 km. For enhanced durability and environmental protection:

  • The motor and battery are rated IP67

  • Other electronic components carry an IP65 rating

Three Riding Modes and Braking Setup

The Yamaha EC-06 comes with three riding modes:

  • Eco

  • Standard

  • Power

To assist riders in parking and maneuvering in tight spaces, the scooter also features a reverse mode.

For suspension, the EC-06 uses:

  • Telescopic front forks

  • Rear coil spring suspension, tuned for city riding conditions

Braking duties are handled by 200 mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by a Combi Brake System (CBS) for improved safety.

Digital Display, Lighting, and Smart Features

The electric scooter features a colour LCD instrument cluster that displays:

  • Speed

  • Battery status

  • Riding mode

  • Connected features and alerts

The Yamaha EC-06 also comes equipped with LED headlamp and LED tail lamp as standard.

24.5-Litre Under-Seat Storage and Connectivity

The EC-06 supports smartphone connectivity via the Yamaha Motor Connect R app, allowing riders to access real-time vehicle data and connected features.

For added practicality, the scooter offers 24.5 litres of under-seat storage, which can accommodate a helmet or daily essentials.
