News Synopsis

Xiaomi has announced a partnership with the German Camera-maker company Leica. The first smartphone under this partnership will be launched next month. Earlier Leica partnered with companies like Huawei, Panasonic, Nokia, and Sharp.

OnePlus and Oppo have also partnered with a Swedish photography company, Hasselblad for smartphone series like the OnePlus 10 Pro and Oppo Find X5. It is believed that Xiaomi's first phone with the Leica brand will be launched as Xiaomi 12 Ultra

In this partnership, Xiaomi said that both companies share similar views about mobile imaging and look forward to continuing to explore optical performance and photographic experience in the mobile imaging era through highly technological breakthroughs. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has said that this partnership will provide a strong boost to Xiaomi's imaging strategy.

As always with the announcement of such a collaboration, only time (and the launch of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra) will tell about where this is on the scale of depth, where one end basically just has the mobile maker using the camera company's brand and few of the filters in its camera app and co-developing hardware and software on the other hand.
